Just 5 days after Bruno Fernandes’ first red card in his career during Manchester United’s 3-0 loss at home to Tottenham, he received his second.
Last night, Manchester United salvaged a late draw against Porto in the Europa league. After going 2-0 up inside of the first 20 minutes due to some particularly poor goalkeeping from Diogo Costa, they had blown the lead by halftime – and were 3-2 down by the 50th minute.
Bruno Fernandes was up to his usual antics. He failed to get control of the game or influence it in any meaningful way for his side – and was the first to complain when he received his marching orders after his second yellow card of the night.
His first came in the 32nd minute, after his boot was deemed to be too high while on the attack. His second yellow followed in the 81st minute, and was much the same. His boot was high, and he followed through on the defender – taking him out.

It’s another controversial sending off for Fernandes, but at the end of the day two yellow card offences will get you sent off.
Harry Maguire spared both Bruno and manager Erik Ten Hag’s blushes in the first minute of injury time, however – as the substitute headed home from a corner to salvage the draw for United.
But once again, fans leave the game unsatisfied with the performance. And once again, many question marks are buzzing around captain Bruno Fernandes. 2 sending offs in as many games is never a good look, even if one is controversial and overturned.
As seems to be a recurring issue, last night’s match in Portugal was another display where Manchester United looked lost – and their captain looked to struggle. He failed to influence the game, and did a poor job of leading his team, too.
Manchester United are in desperate need of a leader right now, which makes you think: just how long does Bruno Fernandes have left?
