Hi there. I am a 21 year-old boy. Man? Man-child? I don’t know. I’m extremely passionate about art, sports, writing, nature, gaming – an extremely wide plethora of things, really.
I’m pretty different from most people my age. I definitely have a very silly and immature side, sure. But for the most part, I’m a pretty mature and reserved person. I don’t drink. I don’t party. My social circle is… almost too small.
I used to work full-time in a warehouse, with aspirations of one day becoming a sports journalist of some kind. I made this blog to make sure I didn’t lose focus of my dream. To keep writing.
Right now, I’m out of work. I have been for over half a year, and will be for the foreseeable future. A serious injury left me out of action, and I’m still recovering from an operation to this day. I don’t think I want to go into the world of journalism anymore – it’s a horrible, toxic place, that’s all about tearing other people down and using their misfortune for clicks and money. I’m not sure I want to be a part of that.
Eventually I plan on getting back to university. In the meantime, creative outlets are of course, good. I still love writing, and I’m still an extremely passionate and opinionated person. So, with that in mind…
What will I be posting here?
A little bit of everything, really. The site name really is accurate: Ramblings of a Lad. If something is going on in my life and I have a strong opinion about it, I’ll just hop on here and ramble.
It could be anything. A food product I’ve just tried; a game that I’ve just played or completed for the first time; a football result; or just something in my life that’s pissed me off on any given day.
Expect there to be very little filter in my posts, and very little consistency. (both in terms of subject matter, and how often I post them.) There will likely be more of some things than others, but you’ll never be able to guess what I’ll post on a certain occasion.
Essentially, this blog is my outlet. Anything that I’m passionate about or extremely opinionated about, I’m going to come on here and “ramble.” Whether anyone reads it or not, I’m not fussed. That’s not what it’s for. But if you’re here for the ride, then thank you for being here.
Types of Ramble (What is a Ramble?)
Rambles will be heavily opinionated and biased pieces of writing. They will, for the most part, be based off of or inspired by my life experiences. Most of the time though, they just be about things that bother me. Anything I have strong feelings about and want to talk about, I will ramble!
Sports rambles are specifically about.. Well.. Sports. Expect these to (for the most part) be the most “professional” pieces of writing on my page. I will always try to keep them unbiased, but of course, I will also be choosing topics based on things that I care strongly about – so expect there to be some crossover.
They will mostly be football-based, as football is a huge part of my life. I’m also a big darts fan too though, so there may be an occasional darts-themed ramble.
Food is one of life’s biggest pleasures. Even if I’m having the worst day in the history of mankind, my mood can be entirely changed by a good meal. I care about food on a much deeper level than just sustenance.
In terms of food rambles on here, though, I imagine they will mostly be reviews of varying products and brands. For example, my review of EatLean cheese snacks. Sometimes though, I might just ramble about the importance of comfort food, or discuss a specific recipe that makes me happy.
Gaming is another huge part of my life. It’s my way to relax and escape, especially if I can play something with my friends. I grew up on games. Not in the way of the modern child: 8 hours a day playing roblox on a crusty ipad – I grew up playing the PS2 and other classics with my parents and grandparents.
Gaming rambles, for the most part, likely won’t be overly positive. Like with most things in life, people don’t typically feel obligated to scream and shout when they love something. But when they hate it? Oh, you’ll hear them!
Game rambles will undoubtedly be the most passionate, one-sided rambles on my whole page. They will be loosely based in review-writing, but, like everything else, they are just rambles after all.
Life Rambles are, essentially, rambles that don’t really fit into any other category. They will typically be about life experiences or things in general that I want to write about. For example, my frustration about Mercedes’ heated seats. These rambles will, I expect, mostly be about those frustrations.
